Expenser ("we", "our", or "us") is a personal finance management application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Expenser app.

Information We Collect

When you create an account and use Expenser, we collect:

• Account information: Your name and email address used to create your account.
• Financial data: Transaction amounts, categories, account names, balances, budgets, and loan records that you enter into the app.
• Voice data: When you use the Voice Input feature, your spoken words are captured by your device's microphone and sent to an AI service to extract transaction details. Voice recordings are not stored — only the resulting transaction data is saved.
• Receipt images: When you use the Receipt Scanner feature, the image you select is sent to an AI service to extract transaction details. Images are not stored on our servers — only the resulting transaction data is saved.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the Expenser service.
• To process voice and receipt inputs through AI to help you add transactions faster.
• To save your financial records so you can access them across sessions.
• To display reports, budgets, and account summaries based on your data.

Microphone Permission

Expenser requests access to your device's microphone solely for the Voice Input feature. The microphone is only activated when you explicitly tap the "Tap to Speak" button. We do not record audio in the background or at any other time.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Your data is only used to operate the Expenser service.

Voice transcripts and receipt images are processed by a third-party AI service (Groq) solely to extract transaction details. This data is not stored or used by the AI service beyond processing your request.

Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted). Your password is stored as a hash and never transmitted in plain text after account creation.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from the Profile → Delete Account section of the app. Upon deletion, your account is disabled and your data will no longer be accessible.

Children's Privacy

Expenser is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
